Physicians Realty Trust, which has a Milwaukee 3rd Ward office highlighted by gourmet kitchens, coffee bars and a wellness room, has been voted by our web readers as Milwaukee's Coolest Office. Check out the attached slideshow to get a look at the unique office space.
Physicians Realty Trust (NYSE: DOC) purchased the seven-story Renaissance on Water office building, 309 N. Water St., in March 2015 and was named one of Milwaukee's Coolest Offices by the Milwaukee Business Journal in 2016. The firm expanded into the sixth floor of the building in 2016 and into the seventh floor in 2018, resulting in an updated space with more amenities for employees, such as collaboration spaces, gourmet kitchens and coffee bars to what had already been one of the Milwaukee area's most unique offices.
Physicians Realty Trust was one of eight Milwaukee-area firms recently honored as one of our winners of our Milwaukee's Coolest Offices contest. And the firm was a close winner of an online poll of all of the winners, capturing 35 percent of the vote. Rockwell Automation Inc., the Milwaukee manufacturing firm based in the Walker's Point neighborhood, came in a close second.
I caught up this morning with Mark Theine, the company's executive vice president, asset management, to talk about the firm winning the contest.
Q: What is your reaction to being picked Milwaukee’s Coolest Office?
"We are thrilled to be recognized as Milwaukee's Coolest Office. Our team is proud of our headquarters space which blends the history of our 1896 Historic 3rd Ward cream city building with a modern aesthetic."
Q: Why was the design, layout of the office so important to you?
"We work very hard on behalf of our healthcare partners and their patients, so designing a space that catered to our team's comfort, convenience, and ability to collaborate was top of mind. Given our commitment to work-life balance, it was important for us to offer a space with amenities like our fitness center and wellness room. This team-first culture supports our strong and vibrant 'invest in better' philosophy."
